SINGING IN THE RAIN:
·Data sheet:
It is a 1952 American musical-romantic comedy film directed and choreographed by Gene Kelly. It is regarded as the best film musical ever made.
·Plot:
The is set during the transition from silent films to talking pictures and this is a problem for the actors, due to the fact that Lina, the main actress has an awful voice. The film tells the story of a famous couple that are not really in love with each other. Don, the main actor falls in love with a chorus girl and after the disaster first talking film, Don comes up with the idea of turning the film into a musical and dubbing Lina's voice with the incredible chorus girl's voice. In this way the chorus girl becomes famous and the new couple ( Don and the chorus girl) make a new blockbuster called "singing in the rain".
·Interesting points of the film that created a pattern for future movies:
Because many of the songs had originally been written during the time when silent films were giving way to "talkies", and musicals were popular with audiences, the director came up with the idea that it should be set during that transitional period in Hollywood. The film shows how they struggled to add voices to the films. This film shows the innovative singing and dancing scenes which replaced the dialogue, usually during moments of high spirits or passionate romance. And over half of the film is composed of musical numbers.
·My favourite scene:
I have chosen this scene, because it shows the innovative dancing and singing scene. I personally think that it is hilarious because the actor dances extremly well and it also makes us laugh which is one of his character's caracteristic.
